Ellie is ADORABLE!!

Sunday, July 24, 2016

Ellie was found in Birdeye the week we left for a trip so when we got back we fostered her to get to know her and hopefully find her a forever home.  She's around a year old, spayed, vaccinated, heartworm negative and one of the easiest fosters we've had ever (except she pooped in her crate).  She's great with kids and dogs.  Does get a little too interested in Dr. Calico, our cat, but I think that can be handled.  If you know of someone that is looking for a great mutt that's house and crate trained, please let me know.  SPAY and NEUTER PEOPLE!!!!  (I sound like a broken record but it's as important as the first parvo shot...I'll keep preaching until I'm blue in the face :))

Feel free to forward this post to co-workers and friends....and please do!

Just a two minute drive away, we could kayak, paddle board, canoe, play on the lake equipment and hang out on a beach.
You can't walk there because the winding roads are too dangerous...I do wished they'd developed trails so you could walk with your beach bag and so forth.  The trails were a ton of fun and easy to get to

We enjoyed going to Big Canoe, Northwest of Atlanta to meet up with Jackie's Vandy classmates over the weekend.  Amy booked us a house with plenty of room and we hiked, swam, kayaked, canoed and played lots of games.  A shout out to Amy for knowing all the ins and outs of Big Canoe. School starts soon for all the kids...some belly ached some acted excited, lol!  Check out Big Canoe at: http://www.bigcanoe.com/

Lusanne and Montreux, Switzerland

Whit and Matt on the train

Inside the Chillon Castle in Montreux, Switzerland...Chillon was believed to be
built in 1150 serving as a prison and arsenal

Matt, Chloe, Jackie and Michelle...Matt and Michelle are so easy to travel with...no drama, never late and very fun
and easy to be around...She's a breast cancer survivor...Very inspiring to me and I really needed her on that via ferrata!
This is at Jungfrau and should've been on the Murren post

I'm not sure why I didn't get this photo on the Murren blog, but this is in
Jungfrau.  They had Ice Age playing in the train terminal...lol
Super large tree in Lusanne, Lake Geneva, Switzerland

In Montreux paragliders would land in the water, amazing! Here they are folding up the parachute

Olympic Museum, Lusanne...one of only two days that it rained during the entire trip...we were LUCKY!

Lusanne Cathedral
One of many cyclists in Lusanne....Love the fenders, reminds me of Kyle last year..."That's the reason you need fenders,"
pointing to the muddy skid mark up my back on our Kentucky bike ride last fall

An Olympic qualifying beach volleyball tournament was going on when we took the train from Interlaken to Lusanne....
I peaked my head in before a worker asked me if I had a ticket and snapped this shot....this is in Gstaad where we had lunch
I'm not sure what kind of car this is but they wanted a photo in front of this in Lusanne

The final three days of the trip we went to Lusanne, on Lake Geneva.  We went to its festival the day we got there (100th shout out to Jackie) and spent time in Montreux at its famous castle, beaches and their music festival.  We spent one night in Milan before taking a non-stop flight to Atlanta.  It was a great and fun trip.  Way to go Jackie.  And we had a great time with East Birdeye and the Spidell's.
Lusanne

Dang blurry camera....when we arrived in Milan on the last day of the trip, there
was a huge thunderstorm that had us going for cover on the way to our hotel

Gstaad Beach Volleyball Tournament...Chloe and I got Coop Straw Hats...Coop is the name of the grocery store chain
in Switzerland.  The only grocery store chain in every town...interesting...

Lauterbrunnen and Interlaken, Switzerland

At the TI in Lauterbrunnen, Chloe found a map from the Lord of the Rings...Author J.R.R. Tolkien wrote the Hobbit and
the Lord of the Rings based on this area in Switzerland during the 1930's

We rented mountain bikes in Lauterbrunnen to ride down the valley to Interlaken, about 12K

The bike trail followed the river Weisee Lutschine

I'm such a dork but I love taking photos over my shoulder when Chloe and Jackie are behind

Interlaken

I got a photo of this guy with a Yorkshire Terrier in his basket

Lake Brienzersee

This was a narrow bridge, I was lucky I didn't crash taking this photo

Biking just outside of Interlaken, Jackie was trying to get us to a town another 5 miles out Iseltwald, but Chloe had
gelato on the mind so just after this, we turned around....
July 8, 2016

The last day in Murren, we took the cable car down to Lauterbrunnen to ride bikes along the river Weisee Lutschin to Interlaken about 12K one way.  We had lunch there, rode along lake Brienzeree and had gelato.  It was a fun day.  We used the Swiss pass and rode the train back to Lauterbrunnen.  Kara and Whit went paragliding with Chloe's gopro and got some great footage.  I'll get Chloe to get that footage on Youtube asap.
